Post brakes???? hmmmm

I pulled out of work tonight and it felt like my brakes lock up on me or somehing.I hit the pedal and all of a sudden it felt like i bottom the car out but i am not sure if it is the brake or what, it only happend when i went over a bump and hit brake at same time! this may be a dumb question but does the e brake have anything to do with the front brakes??????
