Default breaking in the motor

how necessary is it to break in a motor with a hydraulic and roller lifters/rockers? I've heard its an absolute must on non-roller motors, but is it necessary on a custom built motor with all roller parts?

Is it necessary to chew your food if you've got dentures?

Unless you want to choke!

There is more to an engine than the camshaft and lifters, and it all needs to be broken in.

Don't choke.

Take care,
-Chris

If you put 500 miles of easy driving on it (with conventional oil in the pan) then change the oil, the engine will be broken in.

You should also make sure the rpms are varied, don't cruise at the same mph in the same rpm. The cam and bearings needs to be broken in before it is driven, you need to let it idle at 2000 or a little higher for 10-15mins, then I suggest changing the oil.
