my 83 stang 5.0 is going to need a new engine soon, so I have a few questions, ideas I was considering.
stock 5.0 replacement (rebuild)
- use 87 newer 5.0 heads with orginal 5.0 carb setup (new carb)
- use 87 newer 5.0 exuast set up (heads, h-pipe, ect.)
or
replace with 5.8 (rebuild)
- use 87 newer 5.0 heads with orginal 5.0 carb setup (new carb)
- use 87 newer 5.0 exuast set up (heads, h-pipe, ect.)
would the 87 5.0 heads work on both applications and be an upgrade, or would they be too restricing for the 5.8?
keep in mind I would be using a similar year 302 or 351, this is strickly a budget build and is a neccessity not fun, (but it can be a little fun)
the reason I sugest 87 heads is because I have a set sitting unused in my garage with a recent rebuild on them. (same with the exaust. I have the orginals off my 88 and know that they are better flowing then the orginal 83 exaust)
I want to re - use as much of the orginal engine as possible hence the orginal carb setup upper and lower intake. I would upgrade the carb though. and I would need a double hump cross member for the exaust.
The car will need a rebuild soon but I would rather spent the money on my 88 stang or 78 harley, hence the reason for the budget build.
Any replies are greatly appreciated
thanks
