building a 351
what are the best flowing factory heads for a 351W?
|
1969 351w 4bbl heads are the best factory heads. They are pretty tough to find though.
Why do you want factory heads and not aftermarket? You could also port & polish stock 351w heads and have larger valves installed for half the price of aluminum heads and flow better than '69 351w heads. My stock 351w heads are at the shop, as we speak, getting 2.02/1.60 valves installed and also ported & polished. It's going to cost me about $550-600 |

I am running similar set up to yours, however with 750 carb. My heads are suppose to be 351W with 3 angle valve job, w/ 180-154 valves. Will you have to notch your pistons with 2.02 valves? I am interested to hear how they work out for you.
Also, thinking of a set of 165 AFR's but they are pricy. Thanks, |
I have a set of those heads. My block came out of a 69 Cougar with a 4bbl. I didn't realize that they were that good a head. For the $$ I spent on the Edlebrock's I could of had them ported and polished. Oh well :-(

You are saving a lot of weight off the front end by having aluminum heads however. |
