bullet proof stick-shift tranny??
What choices do I have in manual transmissions with a 1000 hp engine luanching on drag slicks?
Is there anything that shifts similiar to stock that will handle the power? |
Try Jerico, I might cost less than 10 g's. But hey! you got 1000 horse power!

You're gonna need a pretty mean chassis for a M/T and 1000hp (are you aware of the amount of shock that the chassis will have to absorb with a clutch putting the power to it?), and forget anything shifting anywhere near stock. You're limited to probably a liberty clutchless 5 speed and these aren't a direct bolt on. Jericho or Lenco might have something but you'll probably have to phone one of these companies and have them build it for you. If you really want to build this car I'd suggest doing more research rather than asking questions on a message board like this.

yea, I thougt so. I have the chassis covered, and the engine is going to be a 700 hp 408cid with tfs high ports. There also might be a 300hp nitrous kit added. The car is only going to be launched on M/T a couple times a year. Most of the time it is going to be raced from a 20mph start with ET streets. I wanted to get your feedback, at the same time talking to my chassis guy.
Anyone have any experince with the Jerico WC4-4? |
Jerico WC4-4?!?!?! ...are we going Winston Cup racing, or drag racing? :)
For drag racing (1000HP launching on drag slicks), I would recommend the DR4, should you decide to go with Jerico. I have been running one w/ a Long V-gate shifter for the past year and love it. It is not designed for street duty, but with some finesse it can be used, althought Jerico doesn't recommend doing so as it greatly reduces the effective life of the tranny. Another company to look at is G-force... they have several different boxes to choose from as well, depending on what your intended purpose is, as well as your budget. Where are you going to be racing from a 20mph start w/ ET streets anyways? ...and why? :D Also, I wouldn't be asking for a trans that shifts similar to stock, as the H-pattern shifters are a joke once you've made a pass down the 1320' with a V-gate ;) ...and the internals of the DR4, for example, allow for effortless, ultra-quick gear changes, without a worry in the world of missing a gear. A Jerico can be had for just over $3k, and you'll want to go with a long style, adj. pressure plate w/ a sintered iron disc clutch setup, which is also nice chunk o' change. |
sorry, I meant the DR4 not the Wc4. The only reason I want a stock style shifter is for apearance. I wanted something to look stock. And for the 20mph starts on ET streets, the tire name says it all;)
