Default Torpedo intake?

Anyone ever thought of creating a torpedo type intake manifold from a EFI truck manifold. I have the resources for welding aluminum, and was wondering if anyone has seen this done before? Useing the runners off the truck upper, cutting the box part off, and replaceing it with a big round tube?
