302 mis-firing, spark plug wet with Gasoline...
Yesterday,
My 68' 302, started mis-firing. It shakes alot and wont pick up speed. I checked the wires and their fine. I checked the spark plugs and i replaced the 1st on because it was burned out bad (the only one burned). The started runing fine, but the it started doing the same thing. I check the same plug and it was wet, and it smelled like gasoline. I dried it off and put it back. The car ran fine again, but the started acting up again...help. |

Sounds like a bad valve.
Test cylinder compression. Take out your #1 plug and dry compression check, note your pressure. Next,do the same thing but squirt in a small amount of oil. If your pressure increases your rings are bad. If the pressure stays the same, oil or no oil, you have a bad valve or head problem. Hope this helps. |
