CAI with C&L inlet tube?
I'm looking for a cold air kit that I can use with the C&L 76mm tb and inlet tube. I had a Mac steup before i went to the 76mm and inlet tube and they wouldn't work together. The Mac fenderwell mount was too short, wouldn't reach the maf. I've heard the Moroso will fit, but don't want to spend $90 to find out. Anyone running a fenderwell kit with the C&L inlet tube? TIA guys.

I've seen varying opinions - but you may need to make sure that the MAF Sensor is calibrated for use with a CAI setup. I have seen many posts where someonce has poor idle and surging with CAI and a new MAF, their problems have gone away by switching back to the stock airbox, or running a conical filter directly in front of the MAF sensor. In fact, I have seen Pro-M adds for MAF's calibrated to work with CAI, I think it has to do with the 90 degree bend in the tube - versus a straight shot from a conical filter on the end of the sensor.

Im not sure what the problem is?
Is the MAF meter in the stock location with the C&L inlet tube? If so, it should work with the moroso kit. I have the moroso kit, and a PRO-M 75MM bullit, and it works fine, but I have the stock black flexible tube going from the MAF meter to the TB. |

MAF setup...
My setup is a Moroso CAI to the factory bracket with a C+L 73mm. Then the stock rubber POS to the TB.
No probs. My idle surges a bit every now and then, but only at warmup and nothing too severe. It settles after warmup. I would love to see something written (technically) concerning the air flow into the MAF and it's implications. Tony at Hocus Pocus said he would like to try to orient the MAF at the 90* position for a comparison. I'll run it on a dyno for ya after I rotate it 90*. It can't hurt to try huh?

Thanks for all the opinions and theories, I'm looking for actual experience here though. Is anybody actually running the C&L inlet tube with the Moroso cold air intake, or any other fenderwell unit? The C&L inlet tube is a fixed length while the factory inlet tube is somewhat adjustable, so the problem is finding a cold air fenderwell unit that is the same length as the factory airbox. Thanks again for the replies, does anyone know if the Moroso unit is the same length as the factory airbox?

Yes, the moroso is the same length as the factory airbox, which could have been concluded from reading the replies that stated the moroso kit works with the MAF meter in the factory location.
Any other concerns? |

For what it's worth, I run the C&L 73mm with the MAC CAI fender mounted, no idle problems at all. runs great all the time.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll have to try the Moroso kit. I just didn't want to buy it and find out it was too short or too long with the C&L air tube on there. The things almost been more trouble than it was worth, but if the Moroso kit works I'll be very happy.

I, like many of the above posts have the Moroso CAI running into a C&L 73mm with the stock rubber tube to the TB with no problems. If for some reason it doesn' t work, just return it.

I was running the fenderwell mac cai with the c&l 76mm maf. It comes with that rubber reducer piece and fit perfect at the time. I switched back to the stock air box with the c&l alum tube as that is better and the c&l tube is bigger than the mac chrome pipe.
