C&L 76mm

after i get my gears and shifter i might have enought money left for a cobra intake..and i was wondering if after i get that intake if i should get a C&L 73 or 76mm air meter..also should i go with a 65 or 70mm throttle body??i plan on a A-trim some time in the late future also..should i upgrade the fuel injectors before i get the air meter? and dose anyone that has the C&L 76 have a pic of what it looks like with that tube?

Just an FYI...I've heard that C&L meter have problems with those sampling tubes. Something about part throttle/non-boosted drivability problems. I'm not trying to knock them...I don't own one. Just what I've heard. And this has been a while ago. Perhaps they've fixed the problem.

I have had my 73mm for almost two years now and it has been great for me. I went from 19lb injectors, 24lber, to 30lbs changing the sample tube for each and it still ran great. I ordered the 76mm last Wednesday and thought it would get here today, but I didn't see it. I am hoping it gets here tomorrow. I will let you know how it works out.

I have heard C&L has fixed there issues. I just got rid of my 75mm Pro-M and got the 76mm C&L kit with discharge tube, but like 93GT it isn't here yet.
www.cnlperformance.com they have a good article on it, good pictures also.

Demon, it comes with a tube that can be removed and swapped when going with larger injectors. When you upgrade (or downgrade for that matter) all you do is change the sample tube and it is 'recalibrated'. It is much easier then sending it back to the company and paying for shipping there, paying to have them recalibrate it, and paying to have it shipped back... That's why I will be sticking with C&L for a while.

93gt did you have to pay extra for the samplaling tubes or did it come with your 73mm?

As opposed to the Pro-M meters costing an arm and a leg and a big toe to have recalibrated the C&L meters only cost $40 (for a new sampling tube). And you could probably find someone to buy your old tube should you ever decide to switch injector size. I would at least buy 24lb injectors when you buy the meter because you'd probably be able to sell a 24lb tube a lot easier then you could a tube for stock injectors.

I just got my 76mm, but mine was some kind of pre-production unit and was machined as a 76mm, but was still machined on the outside as a 73mm so it didn't come with the power pipe. I went ahead and got this from the guy because I wanted to use the MAC cold air kit with it, plus I have a meter that very few people have http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

The quality of this meter is 10 times better than that of the plastic Pro-M meters and is very polishable. I think I'm gonna love mine after I get the cold air kit installed and get my new meter polished.

Demon, I got mine used, but when you initially buy it, it comes with a sample tube for the calibration of your choice. Each time you change injectors, you have to get a new tube, which usually costs about $30.00, or you can probably find one from someone with a used one for $10-$15 bucks.

-As a side note, I am looking to get rid of my 73mm C&L. I have both 19 and 24lb sample tubes. I don't know what they are going for nowadays, so I am taking offers. It is in the beginning stages of being polished and looks much better than the rough cast that comes from C&L. If anyone is interested, please send me an email and we can work something out.

Oldwantabe, This thread is from 2001, most likely he won't have that avail anymore. You might want to try searching Ebay or get one from C&L directly. Good luck.
