Default A/C specialist needed.

I'm having cooling problems with my a/c. With a digital meter im getting 69 dg with a/c on MAX and fan on high in 78 dg weather and no sun out. With a guage im getting a full on R-134 refrigerant. last year I changed over to R-134 had the system evac for 45 minutes, changed the compressor oil, changed the evaporator line & liquid line al0ong with new seals. and re-charged the system. 7 months later was getting some noises from my compressor and changed the compressor clutch noise is gone and the compressor works great. The only thing I see is that the high pressure line exiting the compressor is VERY HOT can't even touch it. I had it wrapped with plastic cover and that melted and ever since that happened the a/c started cooling less and less. I'm guessing that maybe my condenser is clogged. Has this happened to anyone ? any suggestions. Help its hot in Miami.

Thanx!
Ralph

Sounds like compressor. The biggest problem Ive had with R-134 is that it does not carry oil like the old freon. So it will burn up older style compressors fast.

Check the orfice tube/replace, in case it got clogged when the system was cleaned.

I also add more oil than usual.

Default Compressor

Compressor I don't know about that? The compressor seams to work fine. Oriface tube where is that located ? Also why does all the refrigerant (r-134) maintenance kits have oil as one of the additives and you say that R-134 uses no oil ?

The whole system needs to be flushed when going to R-134, as it will not disperse the original mineral oil. You need to drain the compressor oil and flush with oil, not a flushing solution. They suggest using PAG - 46 oil in Ford compressors. 8 oz. is used in the Mustang. Too much oil can reduce cooling efficiency.

The orifice tube is in the liquid line. It's the one from the condenser to the Evaporator.

You need to put a set of gauges on your system, get the readings, then go from there.
