Default Do you have to break in a used cam??

With a new cam you are supposed to let the car run a 2000 rpms for 20 minutes to beak in your new cam.

What about a used cam? My cam came out of a car that put about 10 1/4 mile passes on it.

Do I have to break it in or am I good to go.

Good to go.

Technically you don't have to break in a roller cam at all...

Cam "break in" (used loosely when talking about roller cams) just ensures the lifters spin freely in their bores (flat tappet lifters) and also has a slight heat treating effect on the cam. Since our lifters don't spin (spider holds them straight), you don't have to worry about it.

Just oil it up, and install it. That's the beauty of a roller, and since its used, its already been broken in. Some people swear by assembly lube, but I don't think you'd need it.
