Question front bumper removal

thinking of removing the front bumper to take off weight from the front end. Will this cause any chassis flex on the starting line, is it worth the weight savings for a drag car that will see little street time, or is this a big no no unless I have a tube chassis?

Thumbs up

It's one of the more heavy things that you can take off the car. I've had mine off before.

Just remove the front clip, and then it's 2 bolts that hold the bumper unit onto the car.

Did you notice anything different when you took it off? It looks like the bumper is the only thing that ties the front end together, I don't want the car twisting off the line.

Did you remove the rear to? If so how much weight did you save, and how much did it help your track times?

Thanks,
Wade

The bumper is the only thing that will save you if you happen to have a un-fortunate accident at the track or on the street. It is the only thing that saves the motor from taking the impact. I don't think it is worth taking that chance....IMHO You may want to look at getting alum. bumper supports, these still are better then no-bumper at all but are not recommended for the street, Steeda sells them.

Ive thought about it. Good weight savings, but I think its a risk I dont wanna take.
