Can water get in your engine through a cold air intake?
I stumbled across a Honda Tuning magazine and was brownsing through some of their upgrade parts, and noticed something called an Air Bypass Valve that supposed to eliminate any chance of water entering your engine through the cold air intake. It's supposed to protect engines from rain, snow, and floods.
I never noticed that in any ford or mustang parts catalog. Maybe I missed it? Is it possible, or is it just an "import" thang?

i personally think of a cold air intake as nothing and a loss of $ if anything but that is just my thoughts... back to ur ? The air bypass is a ricers dream it is more for a car that is slamed to the ground and driven through puddles. why would u be doing that, there is no point i really wouldnt worry about it unless ur cold air intake is as low as ur front bummper and u drive through puddles that submerge ur intake
oh well just my 2cents later

the only time you would have to worry about water getting in there is if you have either a ram air setup where the scoop is down on the bottom

Older explorers are known for hydrolocking in puddles as well. And all those cool ads driving through stuff too
I would guess as long as you draw air from the fenderwell, chances of hydrolocking is low. Most of those imports draw air from behind the headlight etc and the cold air tube sometimes brings the filter lower down near the ground.

Re: Can water get in your engine through a cold air intake?
I had a friend that found out water doesn't compress to well either, broke the rod and put a hole in the oil pan.
