Post Tell me what you think...track numbers

Well, I wanted to post these and get some reaction to them.

These are the numbers from my best run on my first time to the track:

[64% relative humidity, 62*, 10mph head wind]

R/T---.748
60'---2.197
330---5.956
1/8---9.375
MPH---75.53
1000--12.203
1/4---14.595
MPH---94.41

Keep these things in mind:

-It's an AOD
-I drove 50 miles to the track
-The track is at about 3400 ft elevation
-I didn't take anything out...speaker box, spare, etc.
-I didn't lower the PSI in my tires
-Timing is set just above stock (my light's busted and I don't know exactly where I'm set right now)
-I haven't set the TPS since I swapped to the larger TB (haven't had a chance to borrow my friends voltmeter)
-This was my first time to ever run it at the track

Anyway, these numbers should equate to around 13.99 @ 98.54 at sea level. Not too bad for a modified but used up and sluggish AOD. With some tuning and track preparation I know I can hit 14.4's or 14.3's.

What do you think??

Thumbs up

In all, I'd say that it's very respectable. In a very stock trim (3.73's and exhaust) I ran a best of 9.129@77.5 in the 1/8th. Which is about 14.24@98 or so. Believe it or not, you should rev your car a bit higher to get the most of it.

That last bit was assuming that you were shifting at about 5000 or so. I hope you run it again, and do better. Hope I've helped some. Later.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I end up shifting around 6000 rpm on the stock tach. Really, I wait until it revs between 5000 and 5500 to throw the lever, and by the time it shifts, it's generally around 6000.

I know it's got more in it...it pulls well past 6000 on the stock tach, but if I go any higher, the psycho tranny likes to hang onto the gear and I end up hitting the rev-limiter.

I know the motor's got a lot more in it than I can get out right now. I'm waiting for this tranny to die and then looking towards a C-4. I've toyed with the idea of a T-5 swap, but I don't know if I'll go that route. I learned to drive in a stick, but the AOD's got me spoiled.

Well, my goodies are listed in user's rides, but here's the list to save you guys time:

306 ci
10:1 compression KB hypereutectic pistons
Wolverine 1087 cam (222/232 @ .05, .510"/.534", 112 LSA)
1.6 stud mounted roller rockers
Keith Craft stage 1 Windsor Jr. Irons
(58 cc chambers, 1.94/1.66 valves...flow ~235/195 cfm)
1 5/8" shortie headers
No cat H-pipe
2-C flows
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
70mm TB/EGR
76mm MAF
AOD: PI non lock-up 2800 converter, Transgo shift kit
3.73's
245/50/16 Dunlops

I think that about does it.

I know that may seem a little slow for all I've done, but this AOD has been rebuilt twice and it seems to suck a lot of power...I can't think of an area where I'm missing on my combo. I figure it should put out 320-350 at the flywheel.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks guys.

I think you're right about the auto sucking power. I believe my C-4 costs me 25 HP. My 2500 stall TCI and B&M shift kit actually showed no lower et's at the track and no more mph. I still kinda like my C-4 but mostly for sentimental reasons and it does launch well and shift hard now.
