car won't start

I just did a whole explorer intake swap on my 88 GT. The problem is thatthe car won't start. I have used upper and lower intake along with the slim explorer injectors which are supposed to work with EEC-IV. There are guys who have them on. Everything is pluged in the fuel pressure is there the spark is there and all I get is the engine turning, thats it. Not even a huf or puf. I even put a stock injector back in one place to see if it would puf but nothing. Same simptom. I don't believe I turned the distributor to set the timing off since I tryed to see if I could turn it, but everything is tight. I'm missing something but can't figure out what. Any ideas.

No, just the cap, and the cap looks good and I'm getting the spark.

You mentioned you have spark, next thing to look for is fuel. Remove one of the injectors and see if it pulses. No fuel, no start. my 2cents......

I agree. You may haver pressure, but are your injectors receiving a signal? Try to start it, and then pull a plug and see if it's wet. How did you determine that you have spark?

I pulled the spark plug and grounded it to the block. Regarding the injectors I measured the voltage at the plugs with the ignition on. The bar on the back of the intake that looks like a letter C and bolts on the intake bolts is out. Is it important? Does it by any chance have a function of grounding something?

I have take that bar off many mustangs with no problems. I think it is just for structural rigidity not electrical grounding. I just rebuilt my engine and couldn't get it to start. Turns out that the plugs were fouled from previous attempts at starting so I put in new plugs and held the gas pedal to the floor. Fired right up! You might give this a try if you have checked timing, firing order, and everything else.

Have you confirmed fuel is getting into the cyllinders? If the plugs are dry and you have spark, then no fuel is getting in. Try spraying starting fluid down the throttle body, if it starts up then dies, fuel is your problem.

I would agree w/ chevyguy......

If he has spark and any gas, at least there should be some puff or backfires, BTDT never seen any flames come out of the TB yet probably not as fun as with a carb http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

I'm going back to the garage later on tonight to check the electric pule at the injectors. That's the only thing that is left unchecked. Wish me luck.

I swaped the stock injectors back in and the car runs. That's not the weard part. I let my friend use one of the explorer injectors and it runs fine in his car. What the hell is going on?

Have you tried swaping in one Explorer injector?

Take care,

whats the point of using the explorer injectors anyway? they're 19lb'ers as well arent they?

do they somehow spray different or more efficiently or something?

For one they are almost new, which will save money in cleaning the old ones, secondly they are supposed to flow as well as 24 pound injectors. As far as I know.
