Car won't start after motor swap.....help
A buddy and me tried to fire off the coupe tonight and ran into a little snag.
When the key is turned to the "run" position the pump will not prime at all. However when the key is turned to the "start" position the pump will prime and the car will start. However as soon as you release the key the car dies. It's like the "start" and "run" positions are mixed up. I'm a little foggy on the subject, but from what I understand the ECU will look for a ignition signal from the TFI module and if it doesn't "see" a signal it turns the pump off. I'm pretty sure it is something to do with this system, because we jumped the relay and had the pump running constantly and as soon as you released the key from the "start" position it would die instantly. I did take the whole engine harness out of the car while the motor was out and hid it all. So maybe I didn't hook something up right, but I'm pretty sure I've got everything hooked back up right. The ECU relay is working and it is a brand new distributor and TFI module. Any clue what could be wrong? ECU fried?..It did bang round in the back seat of my daily driver for a couple of months. Ignition switch FUBAR'ed? ANY ideas????? |

Re: Car won't start after motor swap.....help
Ignition switch or wiring combination of the ign on position at the switch. Grounds definetely need to be rechecked.. I would start by checking 12vdc ign on at some key places (coil, EEC relay, FP relay, ECM pins 37 & 57, injector connector sample) and the always hot 12vdc supply places at EEC relay, FP relay, ECM pin 1. There's a wire off the ignition switch, yellow w/ black if I remember correctly that must see 12-volts during cranking only. Check this.
