Car won't start with key

I buddy had some free time so he removed his interior(I don't know)? When he installed the carpet and the front seats back in the car it won't start. He can start the car at the solenoid.
If the plug under the seat was in not connected the car would not get fuel right? What should I check? The normal gauges flash when you move the key to start so I don't think it is the switch. Could he have unplugged something under the dash or by the kick panel? Thanks for the help guys.

PS I tried to do a search and I most say I don't like the new search engine. That most be four letter words or more sucks. Example (key won't start) then I tried won't start guess how many it found ,more then I could count.Sorry Dan I will get over it. OK I'm over it I do like the new board.

Define "won't start". Does it crank, but won't fire, or does it not even crank?

Won't do anything no crank, no click, no nothing. If we use a screw driver over the solenoid it cranks and fires right up. He has already replaced the solenoid. thanks for the quick reply.

It sounds like the ignition switch to me. He can check to see if he disconnected any wiring to the steering column, but other than that, replacing the switch would be tops on my list.

Take care,

That does not sound easy. Any suggestion on where to start and how much to replace. Thanks for the help.

It's not hard to check the wiring. All the wiring that goes to the steering column connect through 2 or 3 connectors on the column itself. Crawl under the dash and make sure they are all tight.

Take care,
-Chris
