cat pipe question

How do you tell when the catalytic converters are clogged/no longer effective / hurting performance?

Smokedawg 10-10-2001 05:44 PM

I am pretty sure that when your cats get clogged, they will get really hot and start glowing due to them being so hot. Drive your car at night for a little while, then look under your car and see if they seem to be glowing.

thanks, just got back from a pretty hard drive, and nothing is red or glowing, I thought I smelled something today and figured I would ask...kinda smelled like rotten eggs (bad cat?)?

Could also be a bad 02 sensor. I've had them cause nasty smells.
