centerforce clutch problems
 

when i first installed the clutch it was fine, it was only after about 6 months i noticed it started to get hard to get it in any gear at a dead stop. Then if i got it in gear and rev'd it up over 3k it would try to start to pull the car forward. I have an adjustable cable on the firewall side which i adjusted to no avail. Any suggestions.

That blows. I've been running my Centerforce dual-friction clutch for many years now...with no problems at all. Launching at 6000rpms on drag slicks...even with the nitrous. No complaints here.

sounds like an adjustment problem ,the symptoms discribed are what happens when the clutch won't disengage properly

have you replaced the origanal self adjusting quatrant under the dash ,if not then thats the problem ,even with a firewall adjuster the quatrant will set the clutch to the adjustment it wants ,when they get old they were out and will set themselves improperly ,they won't disengage the clutch properly ....you get the same symptoms

only other thing i can think of is if your fire wall adjuster doesnt have the adjustment range to set it properly

I agree I would try an adjustable quadrant or just at least a replacment cause the stocker is plastic and gives way after a while, I had the same problem with my stock cable and clutch when I first got my car.

the quadrant isnt stock , it a steeda aluminum. The new motor goes in soon so i that will give me a chance to see whats going on. thanks all.

been a long time but i figured out the problem for anyone interested. As i was swapping the motor i noticed the clutch fork and a clip broken off and the ball stud was slipping out of position. New fork = no more problem.
