Default change oil after manifold swap?

I know it's probably a good idea to change your oil after pulling your upper & lower intakes and reinstalling them, but is it really necessary? My Chilton's manual didn't mention anything about changing the oil. The reason I'm asking is because I just put some 10w-30 synthetic Mobil-1 oil in only about 500 miles ago.

I just changed out the heads and didn't replace the oil. I don't see why you would need to. As long as you were careful about it and didn't let any of the coolant get into the engine you should be fine.

i would defintely change my oil. you really didnt see every piece of gasket material, did you? always change your oil. Its cheap also. I know most likely you had a rag in the valley, but stuff can still get in your lifters. take from me after i put my reworked heads in. I changed the oil, and still the lifter clacks. didnt do that before i did the head work and i am really careful. all it takes is a micron of dirt to prevent a lifter from working properly.

Absolutely change the oil, srv1 was correct in every angle, I have changed the oil everytime I do an intake swap. I highly recommend it, I personally spill just a tiny bit usually when removing the lower manifold anyway. Good luck
