Unhappy charging issues

91 lx 5.0

Had charging issues before, sometimes after a really cold night, it wouldn't start charging until it warmed up It would run of battery and then slowly come back..then run fine.

when it was in the shop (new msd box installed) they ran tests on it and they said the alternator was bad

Wouldnt charge even after warming up

new battery, new alternator now....Still the same thing

Any ideas?

Default Re: charging issues

2 dumb things that have happened to me:

1) I had an alternator case and alternator bracket powdercoated. Turns out the alternator would not charge because it was not getting a good ground.

2) A bad belt tensioner wasnt tightening the belt up enough. Even though the alternator was spinning, the belt was also slipping and wouldnt spin it fast enough to charge.
