Default Chrome-moly alloy vs. Steel

I need sub frame connectors for my 1994 stang. Whcih is better Chrome-moly alloy or steel? And why.

Chrome-molly is a lot stonger then steel. They make roll cages out of that stuff. If your just buying subframe connectors, steel will be strong enough. That's what mine are made out of.

Chromoly steel is also much lighter then regular steel

Chromoly is a high strength steel which has Chromium and Molybdenum added. When comparing two identical sized pieces with the same wall thickness, the weights of chromoly and mild steel are nearly the same. The weight savings comes from the difference in wall thickness. Rollcages, for instance, can be .083 wall 1 5/8 tubing for chromoly, but for mild steel they need to be .118 wall. That difference equals .767 pounds per foot of pipe.

Unless you are trying to save every last pound of weight thats possible, I would just get the mild steel sub-frame connectors.
