![]() My idle is a little low, so i guess i should clean the egr spacer (between intake and tb?) and wanted to know how to do it. Should i just start disasembling from mass air till i get to it? where might the idle set screw be, is there one?

![]() How low is your idle and what makes you think it's your EGR spacer?

![]() Its about 600, not really that low, but shudders sometimes and the battery doesn't really charge to well with the underdrive pulleys that i just put on. If I give it a little gas, it works ok, so i thought i might clean it, just to raise the idle a little. 86k miles, never been done.

![]() If you want to adjust your idle look behind the throttle body and the egr spacer and there is a screw with a spring on it if you turn it one way idle goes up turn the other way idle goes down.
That is how i adjusted my idle on my car if i did it wrong or some thing please some body tell me so i can correct it. Hey get some other peoples advise on how to adjust your idle before you go and do it the way i did mine just incase i did mine wrong. (Cause i dont want you to **** up your car and it be my fault cause i told you to do some thing wrong way) |

![]() The EGR spacer shouldn't affect idle unless the EGR valve is stuck open. Since you just installed underdrive pulleys it is a good idea to reset your computer. Disconnect your negative battery cable for 15 minutes. Reconnect it. Start your car and let it idle for 10 minutes. All accessories off. Then turn it off. Turn all accessories on. Start it and let it idle for another 10 minutes. Take it for a spin and see how it feels.
If this doesn't correct it, it might be the idle air bypass valve that needs cleaning. That's the cylindrical thing on the front of your throttle body. Idle adjustment is a little trickier than just turning the screw. You should probably leave that alone for now. If it's 600 by the stock tach, I'd say it's probably a little low. You may want to hook up a digital tach and verify what it really is. Stock tachs aren't very accurate. ------------------ 351W 89 Mustang GT Convertible [This message has been edited by jimberg (edited 06-08-2001).] |
