![]() When I bought the car it came with the airbox missing and the owner just clamped a K&N filter right onto the MAF sensor. The model numbers aren't doing me any good on the filter since its so old. The thing is beat to hell so bad I need a new one. I have no idea what size the MAF is though so I cant order one and no one is helping me out.
The car has been hesitating bad and i'm assuming the filter being the way it is isn't helping. If anyone can help me out here it would be much appreciated. Just leave me a model number if possible so I can call up and grab one. Thanks alot in advance. ![]()

![]() You're need a new air filter, is that what you're asking? You could always go to your local auto parts store and find out what filter you need.
Anyways: K&N filter # for 89 mustang 5.0: 33-2015

![]() Thanks for the reply but thats not the type i'll need. The problem is the previous owner ditched the airbox and bolted an MSD Digital 6 ignition where the aiirbox would be. Then just clamped a universal K&N air filter right onto the MAF sensor itself. I believe it is a round tapered filter that is on there now. But I just don't know what size it is so I can order a new one.

![]() Whoops. Sorry about that. That's the one for the airbox...
The conical (round tapered) filter is most likely RE-0920 (9" long). This is the one that goes in the engine bay, not the fenderwell. Cost is about $40. And there is another one that I think is a kit that mounts directly to the MAF sensor. The kit for '89-93 5.0 comes with 8" conical filter, mounting bracket, hardware and filter oil. Part # 572502. Cost is a little over $100 Still though, I would go to, say, your local Advanced Auto Parts and check one out personally. They should let you take it outside to see if it fits b4 you buy it. Hope this helps...

![]() Thats a very good idea as a matter of fact I was just there today and noticed they sell K&N's. I looked at a bunch but none of them looked like what i've got. The Advance is new here, they just built it, so i'm getting used to the place. Alot better than the idiots at Pep Boys near me.
But i'm going to go ahead and check with them. I'll give them the model number you gave me for refrence and see if they can go ahead and order it in for me. Thanks alot for the help! |

![]() I don't know if this will help you any, but my MAF is a 70 mm and I just had to order a new K&N for my 90 Lx. I went to Reibes auto parts (they sell Napa stuff) and they measured my old filter's diameter. It was 3.5 in and they had to order it direct from K&N. You can probably take the old filter to Reibes or any other place and have them measure it up and look in the K&N book to see what one will fit it.
