84GT EFI Conversion fuel system ???'s
Okay, I have everything I need for the conversion sans fuel tank and gave the harness the appropriate "diet". I have heard that a fuel tank out of an 86 GT is the only one that will work. From what I understand, the pump and sender are integral and go into
one hole. 87-up has the sender and pump in separate holes. I'm having extreme difficulty finding a 86GT tank and all the yards are telling me it's the same as 87-up, which I know it's not-the sender is reverse resistance of 86 and older and of course the integral sender/pump on the 86. Other yards tell me everything is the same for in-tank pumps from 83-86, regardless of engine configuration. Can anyone who has done this clear things up for me before I spend money on the wrong tank. I also considered using my existing tank with an external pump, but that will be last resort. You can have a rear sump welded into the tank for about 125 down here. I would check on that.

Well, the surgery was a complete success! The EFI swap was a wiring nightmare going from carbed duraspark system to EFI EECIV. Everything else was pretty much bolt-in. Turned the key and she fired on the first try! I was misinformed on the use of fuel tanks. Pretty much anything from 82-86 that had efi uses the same tank with one hole for the sender and the other for the fuel pump. Actually, up to 93 is fine, but the sender is different after 86.
