clutch fan

what can you guys tell me about clutch fans?
apparently mine is toast and needs fixing (replacing?). I also need to know if this is an expensive problem as I just replaced my clutch and clutch cable so I'm kinda broke right now http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/frown.gif Thanks

Well you can get a new non thermal clutch for $23 or a thermal one for $35 fromAutozone.

The thermal one engages when it reaches a certain temp, but at what temp?

And the non thermal disengages at a certain rpm, but at what rpm?

You can buy a cheap fan clutch but I recommend (and use) the Ford Special Service 'Police' fan clutch. This offers less drag and better cooling and they work well. About $100. at Mustangs Unlimited and an easy install with few tools needed.
I figure that If I have to replace it, do it right and make it better.
