Clutch cable broke? Now quadrant? PLEASE HELP!
Well, I was driving my buddies car, when all of sudden it wouldn't go into gear, unless I tunred the car of and started it in gear. So anyway, I get it back to my house and see that the cable had broken. SO I install a new cable, this is the first one I had ever done, not all that bad. After that I start the car and the clutch is really hard to push in, so I take the car out anyway. I get around the corner, when I go to hit 2nd the pedal makes a loud noise and drops to the floor. It springs back up, but then everytime I push it, it does the same thing, so now it won't shift into gear. It think there something wrong with the quadrant, or I installed the cable wrong/ Any suggustions? It's a King Cobra clutch with the factory quadrant. Also it seems like the quadrant is two peices, and the half circle peice has teeth on the back, and the other peice that meshes with it and not staying together, just starts to go it and pop to the floor. Thanks alot!

Sounds like the quadrant is toast. I would raplace the stock quadrant with a good aftermarket one. I replaced my quadrant with one that you can use the stock cable. The quadrant comes with an adjustable firewall mount. I have had no problems with it.

Get rid of the stock plastic quadrant for an adjustable aftermarket, especially with the King Cobra clutch - you can adjust exactly to the feel you're looking for.

I bought a King Cobra and an SVO adjustable clutch cable and metal quadrant. I installed it perfectly, but now the cable is starting to bind in the sheath. I know this cause white powder is coming from the cable and it takes all I can leg-press just to get the clutch to engage. I've heard the best setup is Steeda double-hook quadrant w/ firewall adjuster and stock cable. I am gettng all of these soon from D&D Performance. Bottom line, you will need an aftermarket adjustable cable, but go with the setup i reccomend and you wont be dissapointed.
PS - th reason why i reccomend a stock cable is because all aftermerket adjustable cavles are crap and they WILL BREAK. Believe it or not stock Ford cable is superior to them all.

Get a Forte clutch quadrant and cable and firewall adjuster.
These are great pieces, allows for use of stock cable (NICE), and will run ya under $100.
