cobra smog delete

ok, i got a off road h pipe and want to delete my smog pump on my 94 cobra... i bought a 89.5 inch belt and installed it to just by-pass the pump but it was resting against my oil cooler pipe inbetween the water pump and power steering pump!! it would have worked perfect on a gt without the oil cooler, has anyone done this without buying the expensive pulley? i've heard of guys gutting the air pump, i took it apart but don't know how i should go about this. i realize it won't gain any real power, but my brother did it on his 93 cobra and it seemed to rev more freely plus it cleans up under the hood.

Not sure exactly what the cobra oilcooler setup looks like but if they are the steel lines usually used in coolers then you can snip the trouble section and replace it with a flexible coolant hose of the right diameter and loop it out of harms way. Place a good worm clamp on either end of the splice and you're good to go. Seems to hold true for a transmission cooler so I'm assuming the oil cooler would be comparable. Deleting the smogpump seems to quiet down the underhood noises respectfully and really really cleans up under the hood.
