Unhappy Code 81????

The Notch started setting the Check engine light lately. I bought the cheapo flashing light connector instead of buying a analog voltmeter, I already have a nice digital one.

I get a code 81 on the KOEO test. The problem is that between my Chilton book and the scan tool manual there are a few choices on what this code means at least GM uses one fault per code.

By process of elimination, the car has no running problems at all, so failure of the IAC circut is unlikley since the idle speed is fine. this leaves the secondary air managment system which is apparently one of the two vacuum solenoids on the pass inner fender that controls the smog valves. I wiggle everything and try to clear out the code. Even disconnecting the battery for a half hour wont clear it out, and the light has not gone on in about a week. Wazzup with that??
Leave it be, replace a solenoid?? or hook it up to a real scan tool?
