combo engine components

I was just wondering about companies that make combination engine comps. SUch as trcik flow wiht theere heads and intake. And other companies. I have a 302 wiht 352 head son it and other stuff but ti doesnt seem to run as well as just a combo kit thing with the intake and heads designed for each otehr. is it wise to matht the ccomponents together? WHat are the benifits and disadvantages? Just wondering

I was at a very well known, reputable, respected Mustang shop today having some work done to my GT. The owner and I were talking about such kits like the Holley Systemax, for example. I told him I wanted to keep my car a daily driver as it is my sole method of transportation. He was recommending items like the Cobra or Edelbrock Performer intakes and TFS heads. He isn't a big advocate of the kits, though he doesn't deny they might just work as evidenced by some of the guys on this site. There was a guy there with a '95 GT/T-5 making 300 rear wheel horsepower with a Cobra intake, iron GT40 heads, and a small cam. Goes to show that we all tend to look for brand name stuff and here's a car running quick on parts you could find lying around in most Mustang shops. He also said that with EFI, like carbs, bigger is not better, i.e: a Trick Flow or Performer RPM manifold is too much intake for a basically stock motor with bolt ons. Knowing the cars he puts out, and you've all seen them in magazines, I believe him.

I would go with TRICK FLOW intake, heads, and cam. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT, and those parts are made to work with each other.

You can also check out Excessive Motor Sports add in the Muscle Mustang and Fast Ford Mag. They show some combos for 12's, 11's and 10's. Just something to go by. Its on the second page of the 2 page add.

DO NOT DEAL WITH EXCESSIVE MOTORSPORTS

Their adds are nice, but their service and products suck.

YES I SECOND THAT, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM EXCESSIVE AND THEIR ADS, THEY WILL SCREW YOU WITH OUT A DOUBT

The Holley kit seems to work just fine for me http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif although I did swap cams eventually.
