Default Gas Tank ????

I was washing my wheels this weekend, and when I was on the right rear, I smelled gas. I got to looking, and the damn tank is leaking!! It is a very slow leak. I had just filled it up the night before. I think it is in that rubber grommet that the filler neck slides into. Anyone know where to get one of these? I didn't want to try a dealer because you know how they are with their parts. I was hoping there was an aftermarket place to get one. Thanks.

I know thats a very common problem with mustangs... mym friends did it and mine was doing it for a while... you can get a kit to replace the grommet/neck at your local parts store. Pep boys probly carries it or any local parts dealer. I replaced mine with one from pep boys I believe and it hasn't given me any problems.

Around here the parts stores didn't carry it. I went to the Ford dealer and it was less than $3.00.

I can't get it at parts stores around here either. Thanks for all replies. It is greatly appreciated. One more thing, can this be changed without dropping the tank? I hope so, because I hate wrestling that tank.

Unfortunately, you have to drop the tank to replace it. I know its a pain, but i haven't heard of a way to do it otherwise.
