Is this a common problem?
I have an 88 LX I am selling. Every once in a while I'll get in and the clutch will be real floppy and the shifter will be real hard to put in gear. The only fix is this. I have to push the clutch pedal down with my hand, hold the clutch quadrant in place, and then pull up on the pedal. I hear it ratchet and then its fine. The car does this sporadically. Never when I drive it, only after it's been parked and even then only once in a while. It would not be cool showing it to a buyer and have this happen. Is there a fix besides having to explain this to someone that is interested in my car?

I would say the little teeth on the quadrant are wore out a little. My guess is you do alot of street driving. Those factory quadrants are self adjusting (JUNK). If you were keeping it I would say put a steeda cable and quadrant on it. I would check into doing that anyway. Even to sell it.
