Question about Comp Cams Powerbox
I am trying to decide on an upper/lower intake to go with. I like the FMS SVO '95 Cobra upper/lower. $500 is a little steep though. I was also looking at Comp Cams Power Box Upper intake. Model VH050 fits to 5.0 stock lower intake they say. But the gasket I see that connects to the lower intake, the runner holes are offset instead of inline, which tells me it's meant for a Cobra lower. I guess I should call them to find out. Also i was wondering if the throttle opening fit a stock throttle 5.0L throttle body (not cobra). The main reason I like this intake is because it's light and it will clear some room in the engine bay for any size valve covers. However, i see that some comapnies that sell the Power Box, say that it is meant for blown or nitrous applications. Does that mean it won't be beneficial to me who have neither? Another thing...if anyone runs with this intake, what throttle adapter to I have to use, because I know i''ll need one. Thanks.

You won't want to even consider the boxed upper until you are trapping over 120 and are in the 11's.
You'll lose torque like nobody's business. |

I will slow you down unless your making some serious power. Your best bet will be a Cobra, GT-40, ported stock, or Explorer intake. Try E-bay sometimes you can find some good deals on used intakes.

Ok thanks tireburner163 and Unit 5302, i will try e-bay. I've used ebay once and love it cause I got 4 white cobra r's with 255/40s on them for only $900! I guess i may just spend the $500 on the SVO intake seeing as if I get a different one, I'll have to spend the $200 on the throttle adapter. Another question. With a stock motor, what can I expect to see if I get a 95 cobra u&l intake?

With a stock engine, maybe 1-2 tenths. The intake is a little restrictive, but the heads are very weak too. The 5.0 is truely setup for what it's got from the factory. It's a pretty well matched combo.
