![]() I am planning on removing my smog pump and wanted to know if I am supposed to remove the whole EGR plate with it, plug the water line, or plug the plate itself. If anyone has detailed directions and wouldn't mind posting them it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

![]() I would just pull the vacuum line to the EGR valve and bypass the cooling lines to the EGR spacer.

![]() do you think you could elaborate on those directions...I don't really know what I am looking at. How do I bypass the cooling lines and can I just leave the vacuum line off or do I need to plug it up? Thanks again

![]() You have a Cobra man! I wouldn't bother taking off cause it's not worth any gain, except weight lose. You have Cobra intake so the EGR is built in and theres no spacer to worry about. If it were me I would just leave it alone.

![]() So what you are saying is that there is no water running to the EGR? So the intake is not getting heated up?

![]() EGR is completely seperate from the Thermactor pump. I would just pull the pump and plug the thermactor wholes in the back of your heads. And pull of your thermactor lines on the passenger side of the car. If you plug all of the other vacuum holes that will be open, your EGR will still work properly. But, like I said, they are completely seperate.

![]() Quantum is right, the thermacter system is not related to the EGR system at all. How can you own a 93 cobra, and ask if you should remove a EGR plate and plug coolant lines that your car doesnt even have? May I suggest you look under the hood and get familiar with what you want to do before asking a question. This makes it easier for you, and for us to help you.

![]() OK...lets clear the air. I WISH I could have had a 93 Cobra for my first car. That is such a privelege and I hope you realize that. The ONLY thing I could recommend to you is to take awesome care of that car, don't touch a thing. People like me will respect you more for maintaining rather than modifying a car with such class.

![]() yeah, you dont want to learn on a 93' cobra. Must be nice....anyway, get yourself a beater to butcher up while your learning, and leave the cobra alone..like green said.

![]() Screw that, I can't think of a better car to mod. Go for it!! Make that bad boy run 10s!!! 93 Cobras are badass, but man, there is NO CAR that doesn't need to go faster. Besides, if you don't mod it now, you won't have a chance to restore it to factory when your an old fart! Go for it man. Don't let these guys who think they know alot discourage you!!! One thing I would recommmend is to get a Haynes or Chiltons manual, and read that bad boy. You will learn a whole lot about your car. And don't be afraid to pop the hood and work on it. Change the plugs, oil, distributor cap and rotor, check the timing and advance it a bit while you're doing it. But anyway, most of all have fun. And be glad you're lucky enough to have a badass car at 16!!! I drove my moms old plymouth grand voyager mini van until I was 17!!! And my cougar used to be my brothers!! But it's the most bad *** hand me down I've ever had!!! Peace!!

![]() Hey now, isn't this a sight for learning and sharing your thoughts. I retracted my aggression towards SVT, but I still believe that a 93 Cobra isn't the car to screw $hit up on. I agree with you Quantum, you could always restore it down the road, but I know I kick myself in the a$$ for mistakes that I made in the past, and I'm only 22. I think what MACH1 said makes sense...learn from your mistakes on a $shitbox, not a Cobra, especially a 93. There aren't enough of those gems to screw any more up. I agree that every car CAN be faster, but as painful as it is for a gearhead like me to admit, some cars ARE NOT WORTH TOUCHING.

![]() hey svt... don't mess with the emissions stuff its meant to work on the car. without it the car won't work right. you will see no performance gains. and how can you work on a car if you don't even know if you have an egr plate? i think someone sold you a fake svt because if it was real it wouldn't have a spacer or coolant lines. please for the love of god don't mess with an svt unless you know what your doing. those cars are too cool to be fooling around with. if you can afford an svt cobra than you must be able to afford to pay someone to work on it.

![]() I can't believe what I'm hearing, pay someone to work on your car? The only things I pay for are alignment and having tires mounted on rims, because I can't do that stuff at my house. I don't trust anyone else to do anything to my car unless I'm right there. I don't know a single person who would pass up a chance to buy a 93 cobra if it was modified. What, they're gonna say, "oh my god, no smog pump, I don't want that car!!!" No car is to nice to modify. If I saw a Cobra that was modified, and one that wasn't, I'd want the one that was modified. And the only reason I might buy the unmodified one is so that I could modify it myself. I say, if you bought the car, do what you want to do with it. Tear it up and sell it for scrap if you want. As long as it makes you happy, do it.

![]() Just wanted to cast my vote. I agree with most everyone else that you should try to maintain the svt's original condition. Or at least don't do any major mods that you can't reverse. You'll kick yourself when your older and wiser. Just my .02

![]() It's your car so do what you want with it. I can't think of a better car to learn on myself. You see these old farts driving around in their pristine 66GT's and such, but if it were mine it wouldn't be stock that's for d@mn sure. Who cares if it depriciates the value. When I buy a car it's not to make money off of it by selling it 10 years later. It's to make it go fast and have fun with it.
