Hardware accelerator problems (computer)
To everyone that knows "stuff" about computers...
Recently my computer has been running slow and when I try to run videos with the hardware acceleration all the way up, it will freeze the program running it(media player, quicktime, Real player...) and I'll have to ctrl, alt, del to get out of it. when I go into the DirectX and turn all the accelerator functions off it's fine, or when I go into the display properties settigs and turn the accelerator functions down it's fine, but I can't run 3-D games now... also, when I close programs the window closes slow, like when a pic is loading on a slow modem computer, thats how my windows close... slow... any ideas?? I'm about to reformat, because it's driving me nuts. this is what I have... Gateway Pentium III 750 mhz 386 megs RAM 20 gb drive 3DFX Voodoo 3000 video card and lots more, but doubt it's the problem Thanks guys! ------------------ Joe! 1988 GT, 167,000 miles!!! 13.71@105mph Check out my listing! Sorry I didn't see your post earlier Joe. Remove the video card drivers... don't just de-install them... DELETE them. Retrieve a list of what files are installed and physically delete them and delete the entries in teh win.ini and sys.ini. Then re-install the video card drivers. Lastly reinstall Direct-X. Hopefully that should work. Let me know...
