I'm not sure if i got the question complete right about the rear springs, but when you take the lower control arms off to switch out, the springs basically fall out of the car. So yeah you can change them with hand tools and a driveway. I put lakewood lower control arms on with a floor jack, two breaker bars and a good socket set. Just make sure the car is held off the ground by the frame and not the rear axle/suspension cuz if its held up by teh suspension there will be all sorts of compression in your springs and they're gonna fly outta there when you unbolt the lower control arms.
