Default question about budget 5 lug conversion

i know i can get front rotors from a mid 80's Lincoln Continental, Lincoln Mark VII (85-91), or '84-'86 SVO, and the how-to says "'83-'92 Ranger/Bronco II Left (driver) side axle (29-5/32") from a 4cyl or 3.0L V-6 with the 7.5" rear end, or '86-'97 Aerostar RIGHT side axles (29-5/32") is what you want"

do i need 2 ranger left axles OR 2 aerostar right axles? (or one of each) meaning can i get 2 ranger left axles and put them on each side? also, can i use the ranger left axle and the aerostar right axle?

thanks for the help

You need two (2) LEFT side Ranger axles, theses are more easy to come by as more Rangers than Aerostars were produced. And you need the axles from Rangers equipped with the 8.8 rear end. I dont think that the 7.5 rear end, end bearings are the same size. Someone please correct me if Im wrong. I have always heard only the 8.8 ranger axles will work

he's right. What that means is you need two driver side axles from a ranger or two passengerside axled from an aerostar. As for the 7.5 or 8.8 in rear end, im not sure what ones to take it from.

what wheels are you gonna run and yes get the axles out of the 8 inch rear also the left ranger and the right aerostar are all the same size these vehicles rears are offset meaning both axles in their rear are not the same length that is why only the one side from each vehicle will work for you as the mustangs rear is centered between the axles any pairing of the two , two ranger lefts two aerostar rights or one of each will work any more ? just ask

I got the right Aerostar axle, and for $5800 I'll even throw in the rest of the car...

(No really, the Aerostar is for sale)

what a dork!

you can get your axles form a 7.5 or an 8.8. they are the same. i got my axles from 2 mid 80's rangers with a 4cyl and 2wd. just make sure both are from drivers side. also make a note when you get into Aerostars and Continentals, make sure they DONT have ABS. they are longer!! i went to my junkyard and pulled them. 1 from an ABS Aerostar and one from the ranger. the Aero was about 3/4 longer!!
