whay red82gt said is the right way to do it, but many people have had acceptable results just puttin the r134 in and running with it.

I agree with Mach 1. I didn't replace my o rings and I haven't had to add for going on two years now. It is beginning to cycle a little more now, so I'll probably add a can this year before I sell it. I did evacuate my system. Moisture really kills the effectiveness of the A/C system.

Hey, jimberg, I'll check to see what's going on this time around. I'd like to meet up with you and fordgasm if he's going to be there again as well. LOL, we keep saying we're gonna meet up, but I've been pretty lax at getting to it. Sorry.

Ok, I got the sysem evacuated and put the new freon(R134) in and the oil. The air blows cold BUT one problem, this freaked me out. I heard a horrible noise(thought something electrical blew up or something) from the ac pump. That little valve on top of the ac right next to the one you use to charge the system is blowin junk(oil and freon I guess) out of it. It does it every once in a while but only when ac is on. Did I do something wrong. Other than that it blows cold and all. I know it isn't right though. Please help.

Thanks, James

I think thats a relief valve. You must have over serviced it. Did you use a pressure gauge?

Just let it blow off, shouldnt hurt anything. It should quit doing it once the pressure is down lower from relieving.

Unless that's why it was empty in the first place. How much did you put in?

I put in 1 can of oil and 3 of R134. Is that too much? Thats what was in the kit.

Thanks, James

yeah, thats to much, and thats why your relief valve is opening.
