Question To Mass Air or not to Mass Air: that is the question!

For about the last two years, all I heard was that you had to swap to mass air before you start to upgrade you non-mass air stang. Now I am hearing different stories. Do you or dont you need to convert. Tax money is coming and I want to get a new intake and injectors/fuel rails. I know when I get my heads and cam I will need to convert but do you think I have to with the mods I currently have? (see profile)

No, you do not need to convert. Unless you get a really wild cam and heads, you still won't need to convert.

88workcar is running low 12's with an E303 and Edelbrock heads on SD.

You will need to keep you SD car in good tune, and you should consider the purchase of an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Some guys are fortunate and are able to run the SD with mods. But, not me, I had nothing but driveability problems with my speed density with heads, intake & cam mods. Once I went to mass air things got better but it wasn't until I got a custom burned chip that I was able to correct them completly.

I would bet that if the only mod you have is an intake you can get away with it...but you never are certain until you try it.
