![]() I have an overheating problem. The water pump, thermostat and fan clutch are brand new. If the timing were advanced too much at idle could it cause it to run hot. Its not just running hot. The cars turns on the the needle on the gauge moves slowly but it just keeps on going up. I have removed the egr plate and valve and run an edelbrock performer 289 intake. I was reading to try and narrow down what my problem is. I found that the egr system actually has a cooling affect because it dilutes the mixture. Could this cause an overheating problem.
I have bubbles, just a few tiny bubbles in the radiator while running so the head gaskets are gonna go. The heads are going to the shop to make sure they're not warped. The reason I want to be sure about the egr is that it will determine which intake goes back on. My stocker has the egr passsage while the performer 289 does not. Once I get a good seal on the heads and the timing is correct I shouldn't have any problem without the egr should i? Or should I put the stock one back on cause running the performer intake with the stock heads is stupid anyways? Need some opinions.
