But how could over-revving cause a fuel problem? Or an ignition problem for that matter?

Let's see, my TPS is loose, so it could very well be reading too low. If that is the case and like you say it would cause advanced timing and less fuel, would that not cause pinging?

Oh yeah, It has terrible throttle response now. I forgot to mention that earlier.
