Default Timing chain

Hi guys,

I'm trying to get an adjustable timing chain from FRPP, but they are on backorder. I've got an old sprocket with the addvance/retard barkings on it, but the teeth are not mating with my chain too well. Can I index the cam with the old sprocket, then mark the chain, remove it, and replace it with my stock sprocket?

Thoughts?

JD
