Crane 2031 cam and Edelbrock intakes on, impressions.....
Well, I just got new Crane Compucam 2031 and Edelbrock intake installed after having the car down for weeks. After I got it all on I went to fire it up and it wouldn't start, only took me a sec to figure I had it 180 degrees out, fixed that and it started right up. It idles perfect with no adjustments. Everything looks good, with no leaks. All I have to do is take my valve covers back off and re-adjust my POS Crane rockers since a few of them are making some noise. I took it out and man what a differance, the thing pulls so much harder clear to 6000. Can;t wait to get to the track, since my last run in my sig, I have added the cam, intake, and deleted the smog pump, what do you guys think it will run now? I'm going to the track friday. Also I haven't adjusted my fuel pressure yet, I'm still running 19lbs. injectors and it's running fine, I will try more fuel tomarrow.

Well...I suppose that depends how much harder it pulls. I'd say with just a cam and intake (smog pumps don't give up much) you might be down .3 or so depending on how well it matches your combo. That's a bit optimistic on my part maybe, but we'll have to see.

Glad to hear everything went well and that you like the cam. That 2031 does pull like a mofo! Anyway, I would guess anywhere from .2-.5 gain. .5 might seem like a lot, but I have seen stranger things. I have seen an 86 AOD car gain .5 just from Cobra intake and 1.7's, so I would say you could see a gain like that also. Let us know how it goes!

although i put a car into the 12's with stock TB and stock intake with a b-cam and elderbrock heads, i would recremend putting a 65mm TB on cuz your combo likes to pull up top..one easy way to see if you need a TB is run your car at WOT and read ur vacuum gauge at about 5000-6000 and if it reads any vacuum then a TB will help...
i run a 70mm TB on my car but my cam really needs it and i have no lack of tourque cuz of gears and the fact that the cam pulls from 1000 to 6000 ------------------ 1987 black notch(ex 4 banger) DSS 306 w/ main support...Elderbrock 6028 heads..gt-40 intake..24# injectors...70 mm tb..77 pro-m...accel 300+..mac full legnth..tremec w/ pro5oh...full MAC exhaust, off road h-pipe,long tubes, catback...ron davis radiator..subframes, control arms...CFDF II..o yea holley FPR sucks..dont buy one.. I have a new throttle body, well kinda. I will finish mine up on the lathe when I get home today. It's going to be a 67mm from a stock one, as is the EGR spacer. So I will let you know how it goes when I put it on tonight. Looks like it's going to rain this friday, so I will have to run it next week. Thanks
