Crankshaft positioning sensor...what's that?
I know I don't have one, or if I do..I don't know where it is. I know the wonderful former owner of this car cut a line by the O2 sensors...was it a ground that he cut or the CPS sensor? Can't you tell I'm having a ball trying to sort this car out and start it?

Nope, you don't have one if you've got a distributor. The CPS is used on the Distributorless Ignition System (DIS) cars such as the early 90's 4-cylinder cars. Check the code listings and see if there's an alternative explanation for the code that pertains to the 8-cyls.

Thanks Jeff. My reason for asking is that my engine won't run and it's fresh which makes me nervous about turning it over and over trying to figure out what's wrong. That's why I've been posting so many msg's about sensors and vac. and everything else that could hinder my engine from running. It won't even idle. it's dieseling also when I let the key go.
