Default Deciding on heads..please help

Im trying to decide what heads to buy. Right now i have gt-40P heads on it. I was thinking about going with the gt-40X heads. How much of a gain do you think ill see? The ford racing catalogs say a 40hp gain for the aluminum gt-40 and a 65hp gain for the gt-40X but doesnt say about the gt-40P's. Im thinking about a 45hp gain? I can get these heads for 1090.00 through my work completely assembled. Is that a good price? Should i go with the 64cc or the 58cc? Or should i go with different heads?

thanks for the help,
bryan

Cool

Just the swap will loose 50lbs. This alone will help. They should be more powerfull. More important than what head, is what you do with it. Their are people running 11.20s - 10. 20s with Gt-40s, GTPs and a few other heads that are suppose to be not as good as others. I run mid 12s with E7s, and it's getting better all the time. I think you will be happy with the X heads.

sounds like you need some AFR 165's..that be my suggested head..or 185's if you plan on reving her a lil higher..

now that i look at your combo if you want to go faster right now then rid your 70mmTB for a stock..youd be surprised..after that save up for a 65mm..70mm is too big for you

I picked up 80rwhp with box stock Edelbrock 6032's (the new ones), a TFS stage 1 cam, a ported cobra intake and long tubes over my stock setup. I looked at the Ford heads and decided that for the money I'd do better with Edel's or AFR's. I think the 70mm tb is fine if you go with aluminum heads, that's what I'm running right now.

Thanks for all the help guys. So is 1,090.00 a good price for a complete pair of gt-40x or is about normal? How much are the AFR's and edelbrock's. Which edelbrock would u suggest the performer? And should i go with a 58cc or a 64cc? I dont even know what cc the gt-40p's that i have now are.

In the ford racing catalog they have there gt-40 crate engine with the gt-40x heads and an e303 listed as making 340hp with a 65mm throttle body and headers. I dont know what intake they used but i should be at about that mark. Cause if i got those heads it would be the same engine plus an extra four cubes. Am i right?

thanks for the help

How much did u pay for them and how much of a gain do u get? Should i go with the 165's or the 185's? My car already has good low end cause of the c-4 3500 stall and 373's. Leaving from an idle im at low 1.70's 60fts still spinning. Once i get my rear straight(posi isnt kicking in) i should be able to leave harder and get it in the 1.60's no prob. So should i go with the 185 58cc AFR's? 185's will give it more top end right?

Im at about a 13.2 right now at only 99 mph. And thats with a stock MAF (which i think is holding me back). These heads should put me well in the 12's right? My current mods are on the first post.

Thanks alot for all your help

Default AFR 165/ TFTW

I chose the TFTW heads after a lot of consideration. The TrickFlow heads came with 2.02 intake valves, and were a little cheaper. I did get the TFTW heads pocket ported for a small amount extra (the AFR's wouldn't need it). The TFTW heads have a raised rim that allows use of roller rockers with stock valve covers (saves $150 or so). Either would be good.
