Differential Crap

Hi, my 1979 has the stock differential 2.47:1 with a 7.5" Ring Diameter ... I want to move to something Posi/ Limited Slip ... I was thinking something used but still in good condition ... ebay ? Junkyard? I dont want like full out drag like 4.10 but maybe somethign like 3.27 or around there. Can someone give me some direction here? Thanks

well 86 and up V-8 stangs have 8.8 inch rear-ends with 2.73(most common), 3.08, or 3.27 gears. The Thunder Bird turbo coupe also has a 8.8 with disks brakes, it comes with 3.55's or 3.73's

Tireburner, you forgot to mention to him that the T-Bird 8.8 axle is wider and may cause tire rub.

2.73 and optional 3.08's on manual cars. Auto's had the 3.27's.

Yes, the V-8 Mustangs are all Traction-Loc differentials.

You could check either the scrap yards or Ebay. I think Mini-vans come with 7.5" rear axles??

saw a used carrier and 3:73 gear set sell for $100 on Ebay.

You are correct sir. The turbo coupe rear-end is 1" wider.
