Default headlamp or dimmer switch

Every so often when i turn my headlamps on they will not come on. Then when I hit the dimmer switch the bright lights will come on and I can switch back to regular. It this a dash switch problem or a dimmer switch problem? The dimmer switch appears to be working perfectly when switching from dim to bright, But something I have to hit the switch to get the lights to come on.

Sounds like a dimmer problem. They are cheap enough and easy enough to replace. So even if you're wrong you're not out a ton of $$$.

Actually, both switches are relatively cheap. A new head light switch from Ford is only $20 or so. Not sure what the dimmer switch is, but couldn't be too much. Even if you did both , it shouldn't break the bank.
