Default Distributor recommendation

I have a 351W with an MSD 6AL and the factory Duraspark from my old '85 GT. I'm replacing the 351W with a built 302 and am thinking about the accoutrements for the new powerplant, which brings me to the distributor.

The new engine is rated at 375hp@5500 and I think has a CompCams 280H cam with an Edelbrock air gap rpm manifold and a Holley 670 cfm street avenger carb. I see most of the info on this board is for EFI, naturally, but was wondering if anybody had any recommendations on which specific distributor to change to (if at all). Mechanical advance, vacuum? Unfortunately, I've been out of things so long that I forgot more than I know.

Default Re: Distributor recommendation

MSD makes a great distributor. So does Crane.

As far as vacuum advance. I don't usually run one, but you can if you wish. Usually helps with fuel mileage. The Crane Dist. comes with a very small vacuum advance.

Both will work with your box.
