Do i need that thing attached to the differetial?

what is it for? vibration? i pulled that thing off a long time ago, but this one guy told me it has to be on there, or my d/s bolts will come loose, which they have twice, im talking about that extra weight bolted to the rearend.

lol...that guy was pulling your leg....You dont need it as far as I know, and even if you did, it would have absolutly no affect on your drive shaft bolts. try tightening them down more. Get a hollow pipe for leverage on the end of your wrench

I took mine off too. I just had my gears installed and the guy at the shop told me my drive shaft bolts were very loose. Don't know if the 2 had anything to do with each other, but it is possible.

NVH weight removal

That 'dogbone' weight is an NVH dampener and can be safely removed. It's useless if you change rear gears, anyway.

As for loose U-joint bolts. the weight has nothing to do with them at all. You're either being BS'ed or the guy who told you that is a moron. Take your pick.

mr 50 is correct..they were only made to balence the stock gears of the car..take that thing off and use Loctite on the DS bolts like the factory called for..

How much does it way??? I have already changed rear end gears so if mine is useless.....its coming off.

Mine weighed about 15 Lbs I'd guess.

i agree, i took off my weight and havent had any problems with loose driveshaft bolts, i was told once you put a gear in it is useless. it saves some weight too(its pretty heavy)those guys were pulling your leg
