Do You Think A 13.5@100mph Is Possible???
Im planning to get my pony to hook & book this summer, so I plan on getting some SSM liftbars, BBK bolt on subframes, 4.10s, Eibach drag kit, 70/30s, 50/50s & 28x10.5 DOT tires. I will also be replacing that wimpy factory shifter with a B&M Ripper.
Do you guys/gals think a 13.5-13.0 is possible??? Thanks...... ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT, T-5 3.08's, No Smog Pump (Shorty Belt), Dumps At The End Of Stock H-Pipe, K&N Air Filter (Stock Air Box), Removed air silendcer), 198.9 rwhp @4200 (235 Motor!!), 285 lbs-ft @2900 (336 Motor!!!). Your dreaming if you think you'll even get close to those numbers. High 14's at best with the set-up you'll have. 13.5's and especially 13 flat is hauling *** . You'll need alot more to run those numbers. If you don't believe me, go to your local drag strip and check it out.

By the way, how much did your chassis dyno cost you?

If you are a good driver you could pull decent times, but to get the times you want, you need more upgrades. You need pullies, headers, and better mufflers.
I ran 14.12 (on Kelly Charger street tires) in a full body wieght GT with headers, 2.5" exhaust, K&N, pullies, and 3.73 gear. My 60 foot time was 2.2. I figure with slicks and drag suspension I could have run deep into the 13's. There is no reason why you can't do it. I think 93CobraR has done it. He ran 13.0-13.1 I believe. It is not impossible. 1BAD89 High 14's??? Damn, that's a little pessimistic don't you think?
My car was nowhere near strip condition when I ran it on the Gtech the other night. 87GT Hatch 5spd T-5z, 2.73's BBK hi flow cat, 2.5" cat back, clogged K&N. I ran a 14.19@103.8 (real life 100mph Gtech's show high in mph). If he can't get a 13.7/13.9 out of that combo something is very wrong. I think 13.5 is asking a bit much, but who knows. |

I'd definently say high 13s. You could easily get lower with some pulleys, and new exhaust (headers, H-pipe, mufflers).

I would think they would be possible with a couple more upgrades. I went a best of 13.28 @ 104.8mph on BFG RADIAL T/A's 255/60/15 with pullies, ram air w/ K&N, 1.7's, all the free stuff tps @ .98, timing at 16, fuel at 38psi. I had Full length 1-5/8" MAC headers, 2.5" Off roads and cat back. I had 70/30's, 50/50's, SSM lowers Eibach drag launch kit 9si in bag, 3:73's, removed front sway, Pro 5.0 Shifter, CF DF. That was on a 1.9 60ft and .518 light. When I bolted on my M&H D.O.Ts I went a best of 12.87 @ 103.9 on a 1.601 60ft, .501 light. Everything listed above is what the car had, nothing else, stock untounched heads, cam, intakes etc... oh and it had 167,000 miles. FULL WEIGHT GT with a 4" Cervini's hood.
If you can get all the power you are making to the ground you can beat cars that have a lot more HP, but a lot resides in the driver. Boti Why are you going with a 28" tire, you will hit the ground effects on the front with those tall tires. A 26" tall tire will work fine for you, I plan on running mine with my 4:30's hitting the traps at around 6200rpms, if I need to drop the rpm I will go to my brand new 28" ET DRAGS I have sitting down stairs. Good Luck in your quest it can be done. I know I use to piss a lot of guys off at our local track when I beat them and they couldn't figure out why since they had $3000 in theirs motors, it's was driver and I was getting all my ponies to the ground, thats the whole deal. I do admit I was getting good mph out of my stock motor I guess it had been put together good from the factory. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! PESSEMISTIC HUH? Basically all he will have are 4:10's and a shifter. 4:10's will help, but the shifter will not make hardly any difference in time...People think "oh I'm getting a shifter it's going to knock off .4 , come on now. Be realistic. I have a B and M ripper shifter, I like it, but it didn't knock hardly any off my time. Let him run at the strip, and then he can post what he runs and we'll see. Oh by the way I change my view. mid 14's. =P I agree with 88GT, a little bit more mod's will help. Ditch that stock h-pipe in favor of an off-road X-pipe or H-pipe, if your state is not so strict on emissions. Anyway it's all in fun, good luck at the strip.

1BAD89, I didnt pay for the dyno, the guy who owned it b4 gave me the sheet, it was done at "mopac", $75 But next year im gona re-dyno it at the school dyno (yup thats right) once i get into mechanics class (no $$$ to spend, ill even get marks!!!)
Im gona get some 26x8 tires instead I forgot to mention other stuff, 2.5"off rd h pipe ($50 from friend) bbk pullies, mac 2.5" flo-path cat-back, the 4.10s & all the susp stuff i mentioned, 14* timing (once i get the intake back on) & all the stuff in my sig. The reason i mentioned the b&m shifter is because i am using that piece-o-**** stock 1 im still hopin 4 a 13.5, but in the begenning of july ill race it Stock (or as it shows in my sig) & maby knock down a 14.5@95. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT, T-5 3.08's, No Smog Pump (Shorty Belt), Dumps At The End Of Stock H-Pipe, K&N Air Filter (Stock Air Box), Removed air silendcer), 198.9 rwhp @4200 (235 Motor!!), 285 lbs-ft @2900 (336 Motor!!!). 13.5 is a little optimistic but i would expect a 13.8 from your car. it doesnt take any mods to go 13's. back in the day before there was even mass air stock cars were going 14.3 out the showroom. this is of course with a very good driver. now, you put pullies and gears and exhaust on and tune it right youll go 13's. ive done it, i build it, and i see it done every day.
